North Dakota voters to determine right to use medical marijuana – Cannabis News

If passed, Measure 5 would allow people to possess up to 3 ounces of medical marijuana for treatment of up to nearly a dozen medical conditions.

North Dakota is one of several U.S. battlegrounds this election for medical marijuana, with supporters looking to provide residents with another option for their health and medical officials calling use of a substance not approved by federal regulators a poor policy choice.

North Dakota is one of nine states with ballot measures offered in the Nov. 8 election that seek to grant or expand the use of medical marijuana.

Supporters say Measure 5 is a first step in providing a safer alternative that should be on the table for people needing treatment for various ailments and chronic conditions.
