Richmond Celebrates 45 New Cannabis Jobs!

RICHMOND, Ky. — A new era of economic opportunity is taking shape in Richmond as Natural State Green Grass Canna Co. prepares to open its doors in the Richmond Industrial Park. The company, part of the multi-state Dark Horse Cannabis network, will grow, cultivate, and process cannabis right in the heart of Richmond, creating new jobs and generating significant local revenue.

According to Richmond city officials, the facility will hold a special opening ceremony this Friday to mark the occasion. Mayor Robert Blythe described the project as "a complete program for cultivating, growing, and processing cannabis and then forwarding it on to several outlets that will be located throughout the commonwealth." For Richmond, this represents more than just a new business it's a sign of progress and partnership with Kentucky's developing medical cannabis industry.

The City of Richmond reports that the company will employ approximately 45 people at its new facility. Beyond employment, the city anticipates additional tax benefits, including real estate tax contributions and a 2% payroll tax that will directly support Richmond's budget. Mayor Blythe, who has served as Richmond's mayor since 2018, emphasized that the development aligns with the city's broader goal of fostering responsible economic growth.

Discussions about cannabis have been ongoing in Richmond and across Kentucky, particularly following the legalization of medicinal cannabis use. "We consented to abide by what the state gave as regulation," Blythe said, stressing that the Richmond facility operates strictly within Kentucky's medicinal framework.
