Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield team up to launch ear-shaped marijuana edibles after their infamous bite fight in 1997

Twenty-five years after Mike Tyson bit a chunk out of Evander Holyfield's ear, the pair are teaming up to release a cannabis gummy collection called 'Holy Ears'.

The weed gummies are shaped like an ear with a section missing, mirroring the damage done to Holyfield during the infamous 1997 fight that cost the undisputed heavyweight champ his boxing licence and a fine upwards of $3million.

Holyfield says he was honoured when Tyson offered him the opportunity to get involved, and says he hadn't tried cannabis until he was offered his first Holy Ears sample.

'I wanted to make sure I got home and didn't do anything to anyone,' he told the Huffington Post

'I ate it and laid down. I woke up the next morning and was like, whoa.'

Tyson launched his cannabis company in November 2021. In addition to being the company's co-founder, he is the chief brand officer.

'Cannabis has always played an important role in my life,' Tyson has said.

'Cannabis has changed me for the good both mentally and physically, and I want to share that gift with others who are also seeking relief,' he added.

 Tyson first fought Holyfield in 1996 as he attempted to defend his World Boxing Association heavyweight title.

In a huge upset, Holyfield won by knockout in the eleventh round but Tyson complained of head-butting throughout the contest and a rematch finally took place the following year.

It was the first heavyweight fight in over 50 years to end in a disqualification.  

Commenting on the incident, Tyson revealed that he was livid with Holyfield, saying that he had been headbutting him throughout the bout.

Tyson also told Fox News in 2020: 'I bit him because I wanted to kill him. I was really mad about my head being bumped and everything. I really lost consciousness of the whole fight. It took me out of my fight plan and everything.'

Commenting on the incident, Tyson revealed that he was livid with Holyfield at the time, saying that he had been headbutting him throughout the bout

Asked if he would do it again, Tyson said: 'I say, 'No, never ever again'. But I might do it again. Well if he does what he was doing to get bitten, I would bite him again. Yeah.'

The two boxing icons have since reconciled and have even joked about the infamous incident.
