Colorado may have a reputation as the leading marijuana state, but it turns out New Yorkers talk about pot more on social media, by one measure.
Aizman Law Firm analyzed geotagged Instagram posts to see which users posted about marijuana the most. They used various hashtags related to marijuana to see which state’s residents posted the most pictures. #weed, #maryjane, #marijuana and #420 were the tags they chose.
Not surprisingly, three different cities in California made the top ten. Los Angeles came in at number one. California is believed to consume the most cannabis of any state in the country.
It is estimated that the state will sell between $900 million and $1.2 billion in marijuana through dispensaries.
