North Carolina first? Hemp-processing plant gets OK in Asheboro – Cannabis News

ASHEBORO — City officials approved a zoning permit for what may be the first hemp food processing plant in North Carolina.

The conditional use permit that Asheboro City Council members OK’d Thursday evening during their regular October meeting paves the way for construction of a 5,200-square-foot light manufacturing plant on the north side of Dorsett Avenue just off South Cox Street.

The facility will process hemp plants and seeds into food and oil
