The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest set of guidelines for opioid-prescribing doctors discourages drug testing patients for THC — the psychoactive compound found in marijuana.

The guidelines also urge doctors not to drop patients who test positive for THC, as reported by Pain News Network.

Pain management physicians and opioid prescribers routinely test patients for illegal drugs and other prescription drugs that might conflict with opioid treatment.
