Supporters of the new push to legalize medical marijuana in Ohio have added several new medical conditions to a proposed constitutional amendment, including chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE.
That's the brain disease that's increasingly found in football players, especially those that play the sport for a long time.
The Buckeye State – known perhaps for football more than anything else – would be the first state to allow marijuana as treatment for those at risk of CTE, according to the Marijuana Policy Project, the group that introduced the amendment this month.
On Tuesday a top NFL official acknowledged a link to repeated head trauma from football to the brain disease.
