Lara Smith is a former nurse in the UK who relies on medicinal cannabis for pain relief, but still can't access it easily.

Lara Smith has lived with chronic pain throughout her adult life.

It started at 17, when she was training with the British Olympics team as a member of the junior fencing squad: she suffered a prolapsed disc and learned she had degeneration in her lumbar spine.

By her 20s she was well enough to begin a career as a nurse, but was forced to quit fencing competitively because, every time she participated, she felt numbness in her legs.
