The launch of Britain’s first cannabis e-cigarette could be scuppered by the French.

Earlier this week, Metro.co.uk revealed KanaVape, a device similar to electronic cigarettes but with cannabinoids, will be available to buy from Thursday.

But the France-based firm said the move to sell them online could be blocked by the French Health Minister.

The duo said ‘the minister has clearly said that she will try to stop us selling the KanaVape in France.

This will impact upon people’s ability to order the e-joint in Britain because the company is processing credit card payments through French providers.

However, the partners are campaigning hard and have already earmarked other providers.

Cohen and Beguerie claim their product is entirely legal as it contains no THC – the chemical in marijuana responsible for mind-bending highs.

The product uses hemp with five per cent cannabidiol, meaning that it apparently gives users the same effect – especially the relaxed feeling – as cannabis but without the psychotic side-effects.

The e-joint will mean users can inhale cannabis vapour without the usual smell of smoke.

Drug charities dismissed the product as no more than a gimmick, but did suggest it was likely the product would be legal under British law due to its lack of THC.
