Mass. senators travel to Colorado to study pot laws – Marijuana News
Voters in Colorado passed a referendum four years ago to make buying and selling marijuana legal, and Massachusetts voters are expected to do the same thing.
On Monday, a group of Bay State senators will find out how Colorado taxes and regulates marijuana, and how they decide where pot shops can open up.
Local senators will also be meeting with Colorado officials, law enforcement and people who work in the marijuana industry to find out how legalizing marijuana for recreational use impacted crime, how officers test for those driving under the influence of marijuana and how they keep youth from using pot.
The Senators say they want to be ready in case voters give recreational marijuana the green light in November.
