The CEO of Denver-based Kindman announces the expansion of his production and packaging facilities, an action that should help to stabilize the pricing of cannabis.

One of Colorado’s flagship legal marijuana growers and distributors is expanding its operations; part of an effort its chief executive says will go a long way towards stabilizing the currently volatile pricing of cannabis.
As the Colorado Pot Guide web site recently noted, prices for legal cannabis have dropped significantly this year, due to the explosion of “grow only” operations across the state. That oversupply is good for consumers, but is forcing companies to lower their prices in order to remain competitive.
At the same time, however, the financial news site 24/7 Wall Street reports spot prices for a pound of legal cannabis rose five percent nationally week-over-week, for the week ending June 12; due to factors such as changing regulations and the ongoing effects of the California drought.
Ryan Fox, founder and CEO of Kindman, one of Colorado’s oldest and largest distributors of legal recreational marijuana, notes that as the legal sale of recreational cannabis in his state passes the 18-month milestone, many cannabis businesses are still struggling to find a successful, long-term business model.
Pricing at dispensaries across Colorado, he says, can vary widely – sometimes by as much as 100 percent – due to a lack of forethought about supply chain logistics and other essential business factors.
In contrast, Fox notes proudly, prices for his Kindman brand of pre-packed marijuana have remained stable these past 18 months.
He is also building on his successes, and his ability to take a leadership role in Colorado’s booming legal cannabis industry, by expanding his production facilities – as more marijuana dispensaries in the state look to Kindman to ensure consistent supply and stable pricing.
“In order to build a cannabis production, packaging and distribution center that rivals those found in other industries,” he says, “you have to be relentless about not just the architecture and engineering that goes into it, but equally as important is the team of people you build to run the facility.”
Fox attributes some of his success to his engineering background, which helped him establish highly-efficient and innovative production facilities.
But he also takes inspiration from mainstream business leaders such as Clarence Birdseye, the inventor and entrepreneur who helped to found America’s multi-billion-dollar frozen food industry. And like Birdseye, Fox has implemented automated systems that guarantee supplies of his product remain readily available to retailers and consumers.
“The only way you can really be certain that each facility operates at the same high level of efficiency is to apply similar practices that other manufacturing industries use,” Fox continues.
“We take our inspiration from the practices pioneered by people like Birdseye in agriculture and the food industry. This brings down and stabilizes production cost long-term, and makes certain that each grow cycle produces the highest quality and consistent yield.”

Established in 2009, Kindman provides customers with an unmatched cannabis product – grown in Colorado state-regulated facilities at indoor locations, using a customized process that combines food-grade nutrients and a unique soil mix that brings out the plant's best features. Close attention is paid to product cleanliness, quality, curing and processing.
Since the January 1, 2014 start of legalized sales of recreational cannabis to adults in Colorado, Kindman has provided high-quality marijuana flowers to tens of thousands of customers from over 100 countries.
