A bill approved by the Illinois Senate on Wednesday to legalize possession and sale of recreational marijuana for people 21 and older would create history-making “social equity” to repair damage done by the nationwide war on drugs, sponsors of the legislation said.

A group representing state treasurers and finance officials is formally calling on Congress to pass legislation allowing marijuana businesses to more readily store their profits in banks.

More than a million Texans could be eligible to access medical marijuana through the Texas Compassionate Use Program, after state senators Wednesday unanimously approved a bill expanding the list of qualifying conditions.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) announced on Thursday that they will be reintroducing legislation to federally deschedule marijuana and encourage minority and women participation in state-legal markets.

A new poll by Global Strategy Group on behalf of Think Big Illinois, says a majority of people in Illinois want marijuana legalized.

The Texas House has approved a bill that would expand the state's medical marijuana laws to cover many more patients with a variety of different ailments and diseases.
