Oscar winner Kathy Bates and TV mega-producer Chuck Lorre will examine the high life in a new Netflix comedy series.

The streaming service Wednesday ordered 20 episodes of Disjointed, in which Bates (Misery, American Horror Story) will play "a lifelong advocate for legalization who’s finally living her dream as the owner of an Los Angeles-area cannabis dispensary.

Joining her are three bud-tenders, her twenty-something son and a deeply troubled security guard. All of them are more or less constantly high."

The series marks a topical shift for Lorre, whose CBS comedy, Mom, focuses on a mother and daughter trying to maintain their sobriety.
