As the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) pushes ahead to finalize regulations for hemp, a key federal watchdog agency released an assessment of the department’s rulemaking process and seemed to agree that it’s in the public’s interest to expedite implementation.

The online seminar will be powered by real-life law enforcement experience.

Brand new recreational marijuana sales underway in Michigan marked a historic boom for the emerging industry – and had hundreds of people lined up for the first day of legal marijuana sales.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) finalized its plans to authorize the cultivation of 3,200,000 grams of marijuana for research purposes next year -- a 30 percent increase from 2019’s quota.

Sunday is the first anniversary of Iowans being able to buy medical marijuana products in the state. On paper, things look promising: an expanding list of qualifying medical conditions under the program, 300 to 450 new patients each month, and more than $2 million in sales.

Both Michigan and Illinois, which allows sales starting on Jan. 1, are officially joining nine other states that broadly allow marijuana sales. Companies are rushing to complete renovations at dispensaries, expand their growing facilities, and get staff hired and trained.
