The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced on Friday that it has approved hemp regulatory plans for three states and three Indian tribes -- with many more approvals likely on the horizon.

Some of these would be citizen-led voter initiatives where activists collect signatures to qualify a measure for the ballot, while others would be referendums that lawmakers place before voters.

The U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) are a tropical paradise in the Caribbean, known for their luxurious resorts, gorgeous natural landscapes, turquoise water… and perhaps, soon, legal marijuana to accompany it all.

Recreational marijuana use will be legal in Illinois in less than a week, and some companies with zero tolerance policies are deciding how to handle employees who want to light up. 

Regular cannabis use has risen more quickly among people with depression, and they’re less likely to perceive it as risky, compared with people who aren’t depressed, a U.S. study suggests.

The heavy metals taken up by cannabis plants grown in coal mining remediation fields were expressed in the leaves of the mature plants. But, critically, the heavy metals did not appear in the floral buds where cannabinoids, including valuable CBD, is concentrated, the researchers told Leafly.
