A goal of the Texas Hemp Industries Association, besides educating people on industrial hemp, is to encourage Texans to vote for the legalization of hemp farming in Texas.
The Texas Hemp Industries Association hosted an all-day workshop on Monday in the Matador Room of the Student Union Building, discussing the various uses and benefits of industrial hemp and educating people on the differences between hemp and marijuana.
“The only psychoactive attribute of the plant is tetrahydrocannabinol, known as THC,” Sheila Hemphill, policy and program director of Texas Hemp Industries Association, said.
“When that THC concentration is 0.03 percent or less, it is not psychoactive, meaning that you do not get high off of hemp.”
